Smoking increases risk of cancer of lung only...Smoking is bad and places the people at higher risk for cancers of the head and neck region as well as the cancers of digestive tract. For example, smoking increases the risk of cancer of esophagus but when combined with chronic alcohol use, the increase in risk is exponential. Use of more than 120 g of alcohol (12 oz of 86 proof alcohol) when combined with more than 3 packs per day of cigarette smoking increases the relative risk of cancer of the esophagus by 156 times. |
