i am a 25 year old male and i also have these sharp pains on my left side though and they only last about 2-3 seconds but they are extreamly painful - last week this happened while i was sleeping and i literlly jumped out of bed in pain, i have had this in the past but much milder cases and now it seems that it is happening much more often, if anyone can help let me know! if not i have a doctor appt july 15th 05 - thanks - mike
