Questions on upcoming surgery for cysts

Hi! In a little less than a month I am having surgery to remove dermoid tumors. I am having laparotomy surgery as opposed to laparoscopic surgery because the tumors are on both ovaries. I am 26 years old, so my doctor is going to try to preserve my ovaries. I have no idea what to expect from the surgery. Needless to say, I am terrified. Any advice from those of you who has had this done will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
