I saw a post from a couple of years ago on this issue and I thought I'd post my similar request.
I was born with a cataract in one eye, my other eye has normal vision. Because I developed a lazy eye in the cataract eye, my doctor had me wear a patch on my good eye for a year or so when I was 3-4 years old. I have pretty good control over my cataract eye and it is no longer lazy (though it floats when I'm tired). The center of my vision in "my bad eye" is cloudy in, but my peripheral vision is perfect. The cataract has grown as I have gotten older (I am 31 now). As it has grown, glare and bright lights are irritating and I reflexively close my left eye. Driving on very sunny days or at night can be difficult. I am now considering cataract surgery to have it removed.
Anyone with a similar condition get the surgery? I would be interested in hearing from someone with a congenital cataract in one eye and a normal eye who got the surgery as an adult so that I can learn how your vision was after the surgury? Did it change at all?
Thanks, Jason
