I had the same theory for a while until, I looked it up and found this to be pretty common and sometimes dangerous. It may be Pleurisy, (an inflammation of the lining of the lung), usually follows a cold or lung infection, and causes a sharp localized pain with each breath. There are tons of sites with info on this.
