It looks like no one replied to yours of June 2002. About 4 hours after I eat too much or don't chew my food well or eat thick, heavy food like potatoes, a pain starts at the base of my throat and grows worse as it rediates to my Adam's apple. This happens frequently if I watch TV sitting in a slumped position or lie on my right side in bed. I have had this problem for 2 years and just recently found that gargling water will stop the pain most of the time. But sometimes the pains gets so bad that I wish I could pass out, and just before I feel that I will pass out, it stops.
I don't believe this is anything like what you describe but the location of the lump or discomfort is where I have these pains. I'm 73 years old (going on 95), so, it probably has more to do with that than not.
