I have also started having flashing in my left eye. It started outside in the daylight. It happens a few times a day on some days maybe only once. I went to see an eye specialist who dilated my left pupil to check for a detached retina. He said it was usually not the case and it was relatively normal in some people. He told me that the fluid in the eye changes as we get older( I am not that old) and it rubs against the retina. I am glad I had it checked so I know for sure it was not the beginning of a detached retina. It was painless. Hope this helps.
