I am a 23 year old female, always been healthy, although in the past year or so I've gained a little weight, and I'm not as active as I used to be, or as I should be. For almost two years now I've been having problems with my chest. I'm so relieved to find out that I'm not the only one who's not only feeling these symptoms, but also feeling frustrated because doctors keep saying "you're ok". I've gone to the ER like 10 times in the past 2 years with these problems because sometimes you can't help but think "I MUST BE DYING, THIS CAN"T BE NORMAL!". My symptoms include almost all of the ones that I've read here: I can't sleep on my left side due to excruciating pain, although sometimes no matter what side I sleep on, nothing seems to help the pain. Sometimes as I'm drifting off to sleep, or even if I've been asleep for a while I wake up with this fluttering sensation in my chest. This fluttering doesn't seem to ever happen during the day, only when I'm in bed. (weird!) Also, sometimes I feel an irregular heart beat, or the feeling of a panic attack. I keep going to the doctors and being dissapointed that they can't find anything wrong. Like someone else said, sometimes I find myself getting really depressed and paranoid that I'm just going to die in my sleep or something. Some nights I won't sleep due to this. The doctors have said that it's stress, and one time a doctor even told me that my chest pain was due to the tissue around my rib cage was swollen, which is why it felt like I was having chest pains, he gave me some pain killers and something else I think it was an anti- inflammatory, and it helped some, but the problems never really went away. It just may be stressed related, but it is SCARY! Thanks to you all for posting your stories, they made me feel much better to know I'm not alone!
