To make a very long story as short as possible, here it goes:
I have been experiencing pain in the center and left side of chest (sometimes the right, but not often) for about two years. It has gradually gotten worse as time goes by. Now it is REALLY bothering me. Since the fall of 2003 I have seen about four local doctors, all of which said they had no idea what was causing the pain. I am 21 years old now, but when I was 15 I was diagnosed by my old cardiologist with MVP. I was sent to a new cardiologist last year to have the MVP & chest pains checked out. All tests came back fine and they said it was nothing serious. Well, I kept getting the pains and finally my GP sent me up to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida to have several doctors check me out. I saw a Cardiologist, a Gastro specialist, a Breast doctor, and a muscle/skeletal specialist. After several heart tests including EKG and a CT scan of my heart, a chest and spince XRAY, they tell me they found nothing out of the ordinary. How frustrating is that!? After two years of dealing with this pain, they tell me they cannot find anything. I am just a tiny bit frustrated to say the least. The pain is getting so bad that it is effecting me at work (Curves fitness) and at school. It's just awful and my poor family is frustrated because the doctors can't seem to help me. I have tried several OTC pain relievers and even Vioxx that my doctor recommended but nothing helps. It's driving me nuts. I don't know what to do because even the Mayo Clinic is unsure of the problem.
Has anyone had pains or an experience similar to mine? I get sudden pains that come from no where and they are sharp, and sometimes I get a "shock" sent throughout my chest. It's really a scary feeling when the pains come about.
