Hi, I am a 34 year old woman and was diagnosed with "mild" mitral regurgitation and GERD after having severe chest pains a year ago. My doctor told me that I require no treatment for the Mitral Regurgitation. For the last 4-5 months, I have been experiencing recurring chest pain, heart palpitations, and shortness of breath. I am concerned that this may mean that the Mitral Regurgitation is worsening. Here is my problem.... Everytime I go to the doctor they are rushed, do not take the time to answer my questions, and act as if I am crazy. I am at the mercy of my local hospital clinic because I do not have any health insurance. I have an appt. on 1/11 and I am wondering if anyone can give me any quidance on Mitral Regurgitiation and how I can make my doctors listen to me. Your help is greatly appreciated...
