Two years ago I started having a rapid heart beat. My heart would beat between 130-140 beats a minute while I was relaxed. It would wake me up out of my sleep. It was very scary. I am now on 200mg of toprol. It has helped a great deal. My heart now beats about 85-90 beats a minuted relaxed. There has been about 3 times that it became fast. The highest that it has gotten since I have been on 200mg is about 120. These numbers are when I am relaxed (resting or sitting).
