I have the same symptoms. I'm only 30 years old, but I've been having shortness of breath for a year and a half now. I was diagnosed with asthma/bronchitis. I've done almost all the heart tests: ECG, Stress Test, Holter monitor, echo, all turned out normal, except for the holter monitor, which showed some PAC's(20) and PVC's(400) in a 24 hour period ("this is normal and nothing to worry about", said the doctors). The holter monitor results didn't suprise me, because I had felt palpitations and skipped heart beats before I did the test(I could now say for a fact that they were stress related, because they have droped in frequency in the last months). I've been treating my asthma ever since, but I still have shortness of breath. Normally it goes away when I'm about to go to bed , and in the morning I usualy wake up fine, but during the day I begin to get worse (it comes and goes). What's funny is that when I don't have shortness of breath, sometimes I get a mild preassure/tickling sensation which seems to be coming from the center-left side of my chest. Strange enough, I never get the 2 symptoms at once. I have even done stomach tests, which came out fine. Last summer I had almost no shortness of breath, but it started again on January, this year. I have no increase of shortness of breath when I exercise. Well, I guess since I have a slight lung problem I should assume that my symptoms are related with that problem. Heart problems? Lung disease? Stress? Anxiety? Who knows? It could be a bit of all of them. My worst fear is that this could be heart related, the doctors that attended me think that I am imagining this, I hope they are right! But still I am worried. So, I think the best thing I can do is to be very alert to my body signs and report to my doctor or go to the hospital as soon as I detect something out of the ordinary or if I feel that my symptoms are not getting better or going away. I would advise anybody to do the same. Unfortunately, this problem has affected my life in every aspect for the past year and a half.
