I am a 42 year old male with a Right Aortic Arch. I have a congenital aortic valve defect, which was un-covered by the discovery of a heard mummer. I have been told that my heart has enlarged and the heart wall has thickend.

I am not showing any obvious signs of heart problems. I feel the same today as I did 20 years ago. I was told when I was younger that I had exersize induced asthma which contributed my difficulty breathing when I exersized.

I have been advise to have an Aortic Valve Replacement. I believe that I am going to replace my valve with a FreeStyle Stent-less porcine valve.

Has anyone done this? I have been told the surgery is a couple hours longer due to all of the sutchers.

If you have had it done, were there any complications(ie, infection ect.).

I have herd the longer you are open the more prone you are to infection.

Has anyone with my Right Aortic Arch condition had this done. Any complications. Does it make the surgury more difficult?

Any information would be appreciated: My email is: [email protected]
