Soldier Boy,
Your welcome. Sounds like it could be the stress. I used to hear people talk about stress "settling in" our bodies in various places depending on the individual. I used to think it was a crock of balogni. But, I quickly saw my head straight to my chest and to some degree digestively. And I thought of myself as being a stress free person too!
I can add a few things. The caffeine is a biggie. It takes 2 weeks to deprogram but has an excellent payoff. You'll find that your energy level is, well level. You won't have peaks and valley's. Also, your sleep will be positively impacted as that morning cup of Joe oscillates in your system to haunt you at night. The caffeine works in waves.
I would be willing to bet that the pain will dissappear if you a) get cardio workout 3-4 times per week for +30 minutes, b) kick the caffeine, c) kick junk food, d) switch to wine, e) reduce stress, and f) reduce weight (if your over).
I know, sounds like being on the chain gang. But, as you said, it's hell getting old and we gotta make tough choices.
Good luck on the retirement. After 15 years serving our great country you deserve it.
Best regard, Tom
