JJ, I have had similar symptoms as you mentioned for many years. In fact, I have it right now. While of course you can't rule out that it is heart related there are other possibilities. I went to a reputable specialist in CA 2 years ago and got a clean bill of heart health. My blood pressure it good, weight is good, no family history of heart trouble, and I'm 36. I have had the chest pain for about 6 years.
A couple of possibilities. First, you're right, could be digestive related. Take a look at the digestive health board on the main board of this website. Good stuff there.
Second, back issues. A couple of questions. Have you had back problems? Do you have an infant? Back issues can sometimes feel "internal," like it is an organ problem. Also, if you are carrying an infant around for periods you can have a feeling of pain which develops associated with this. I had it with my daughter. Drove me nuts.
Third, could be anxiety related. My doctor called it Silicon Valley Chest Pain. He stated that there was an abnormal number of people from my area (Silicon Valley) who worked in technology, had large responsibilities, large mortgages, and not enough stress relief. Apparently anxiety can settle neatly in your chest.
I have found that kicking the caffeine habit makes a huge difference. And some type of aerobic exercise everyday is essential. And, gotta have a decent diet and lots of water.
Good luck.
